Therapists
I am an HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist and Chartered Counselling Psychologist with the British Psychological Society. I have over 12 years experience in providing psychological therapy and can provide Person Centred Therapy, CBT, ACT, EMDR, Non-Violent Communication and use various other psychological tools and aspects of different therapies as required. This is all provided within a humanistic framework valuing the uniqueness and strengths of clients, with a therapeutic relationship emphasising respect, warmth and compassion. Within therapy this means empowering the client and working as a team with equal power where the client is always in control of their work and fully informed. I have worked with a wide range of anxiety presentations, such as performance anxiety, panic disorder, worry, social anxiety, generalised anxiety disorder, OCD, phobias and other anxiety related difficulties. I work with mood disorders (depression/MDD and dysthymia etc), grief, PTSD, trauma, complex trauma, life transitions, conflict resolution, self-esteem, bullying, sleep disturbance, sexual difficulties, relationships, organisational conflict and other relational problems. The work may also involve screening for more pervasive conditions. I also work with difficulties specific to religious, cultural and LGBTQA+ communities. It's not just about working with distress and problems, but some aspects of work are aimed at improving the quality of life in a holistic manner and may include improving performance, lifestyle, lifeskills and goal setting. Sometimes difficulties result in a lack of skills or development and some work can be about rebuilding this to an extent. I work with a range of clients from neuro-divergent to neuro-normative and have training in ADOS2 and ADHD assessment and can provide ADHD diagnosis depending on availability. This can also include an optional QB Check. Another aspect of my work covers being able to balance a quality life when there is a high level of awareness of global and political conflict, injustice and social oppression in our world, which can begin to induce feelings of powerlessness, anger and hoplessness. Specialist areas include working with Spirituality, Trauma and ADHD. Insanity - a perfectly rational adjustment to an insane world. - R. D. Laing
